We love dressing up as pirates!
Our family loves dressing up as pirates and where better to do that than in Cornwall!
We heard on the radio (Pirate FM) about the world record attempt happening in Penzance so quickly bought our entry tickets. Next was sorting out our costumes for the exciting day ahead. We persuaded a friend to bring her nieces along for the day. Train tickets were booked well in advance (using our railcard discount card) and costumes acquired from local shops and Amazon and we were ready (this post may contain affiliate links which do not cost you any extra should you click and purchase - thanks).
Pirates in Penzance
Here's a family photo on the promenade in Penzance in the official count area for the World Record attempt for the most number of pirates in one place. It was a hot and sunny day, so were melting in our outfits - thank you Cornwall for the weather!
The two eldest sons chose their outfits, one had a pirate captain costume and the other loved his tattoo sleeves!
Our daughter felt like a pirate princess in her queen of the seas costume. Me well, I'm sorry I didn't look as sexy as the model in my purple velvet pirate hat!
Pirates Quest Newquay for a birthday!
After studying the local advertising leaflets our daughter decided on Pirates Quest in Newquay for her 7th birthday treat. It was a good opportunity to test out our pirate outfits before the world record attempt in Penzance.
Other guests were not dressed up during our session and we feel they missed out on the fun! It was a rainy day and we did get many stares walking from the nearby car park in our full pirate dress-ups. There's a huge sign outside which is perfect for photos (yes I know one of our sons has a gun to his sister's head!).
For up to date information on entry fees and special offers please visit the Pirate's Quest website. You can book a time slot and pay in advance easily online. They have a little shop area so you can buy pirate souvenirs and costume items.
The staff costumes and acting were great and we learned a lot about the pirate history and tales of Cornwall.
